Nature & Scope

The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of large, small, and complex heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment for both domestic and commercial applications. Assignments vary, encompass a variety of tasks, seldom require detailed instructions, and require sound judgment and initiative. The HVAC Technician possesses advanced knowledge in the heating and air conditioning trade.

HVAC Technician will report to HVAC Engineer.

Primary Duties

  • Diagnosis of HVAC equipment electrical and mechanical failures
    · Identifying maintenance risks on equipment
    · Performs repairs on HVAC equipment to include boilers, air handlers, DX systems, chillers, and numerous other types of HVAC and refrigeration systems
    · Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
    · Maintains daily logs and records of all maintenance functions
    · Installs HVAC and building automation systems and equipment
    · Installs ductwork, low voltage controls, gas piping, and ventilation systems
    · Remodels existing systems
    · Responsible for rough-in and final trim of new systems
    · Performs all HVAC and automation preventative maintenance
    · Ensures compliance with systems standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
    · Performs other duties as assigned

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • A Higher Trade School Diploma in HVAC technician or equivalent
    · Proficiency in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols
    · Proven experience in a similar role
    · A good commend of verbal and written English
    · Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
    · Have good attention to detail
    · Must have excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and solution-providing skills
    · Have good organizational skills
    · Ability to work in confined spaces
    · Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
    · Good interpersonal skills and communication with clients and team members
